White Belts have a lot to learn, it’s true. Luckily, there is plenty of time to learn things. Karate can become a way of life, with many thousands of people learning and practicing for decades. So look not to the weeks ahead, but to the years.
Here are a few resources to help you out:
Remember, for children, only the first half of Taikyuko is necessary to test to 10th kyu (first test). Adults should know all of it to test to 9th kyu (yellow belt white stripe) or taikyuko and Heian Shodan to test to full yellow belt (8th kyu).
TaiKyuKo – This is one section of a video from Hanshi Madani and Jax Martinelli, a world class competitor. The video contains all the Heians and taikyuko from several angles, slow motion and instructors count. It is for sale from Sensei. Meanwhile, use this clip to help you learn taikyuko.

Here you can watch a 6-year old doing Taikyuko at a tournament. As you see, there is a large difference between beginning the study of karate and techniques done after ten or more years of practice.
